Barcelona is competing with European clubs to sign the Paris Saint-Germain player
A Spanish press report said today, Wednesday, that Barcelona is not the only one aspiring to include the jewel of Paris Saint-Germain next season.
This concerns the Dutchman Xavi Simons (21 years old), the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, who was on loan to Leipzig this season, and one of Barcelona’s targets for next season.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Simons has an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to allow him to leave on loan for another season if he does not want to stay with the Parisian club.
This comes despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain has already informed the Dutch player’s agent that he is part of coach Luis Enrique’s plans for next season.
The newspaper added that Barcelona views Simons’ option very positively, because he is a former La Masia player, in addition to his physical strength and versatility, and he will adapt to the club’s negative economic situation, and his joining on loan will not cause problems in financial fair play.
However, Barcelona will not be the only club seeking to acquire the young Dutch international on loan, following his great performance with Leipzig, with whom he scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists in 43 matches.
The newspaper pointed out that Xavi Simons, who has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2027, is receiving interest from Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, in addition to Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle.
The newspaper noted that Xavi Simons is doing everything in his power to return to Barcelona, and that he has many friends from his generation, such as Pablo Javi, Alejandro Balde, or Fermin Lopez.
