Barcelona president Joan Laporta refused to respond to the news that his club could sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United star, during the current summer transfers.
“I will not talk about the players whose names we discussed during dinner, me and Mendes (Ronaldo’s agent),” Laporta said, during the introductory press conference of Ivorian Frank Kessie.
He added, “It is always fun to talk to him, and to know the names available in the market.”
When asked again if he ruled out signing Ronaldo, Laporta insisted again that he would not talk about it.
According to recent press reports, Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of the Red Devils, asked to leave the English club, to continue competing in the European Champions League, and his name was linked to the move to Barcelona.
The dinner party that brought together Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, with Juan Laporta sparked a lot of speculation about the Portuguese star’s future.
