A French press report confirmed, today, Saturday, that Barcelona joined the race to obtain the services of French midfielder Aurelien Chawamini, the French midfielder of Monaco.
Barcelona is looking for an alternative midfielder for its current player, Sergio Busquets, who has advanced in age and has clearly deteriorated.
According to the French newspaper, Le Parisien, Barcelona has started talking to Chuamini’s representatives, who wants to take on a new challenge in Spain, starting next season.
The newspaper added, that Chuamini’s name has been associated with Real Madrid many times, but things have not been resolved so far.
The newspaper pointed out that Chuamini said “no” to Paris Saint-Germain, because his desire is to play outside France, although the Parisian club was willing to pay the penalty clause of 80 million euros to join him.
The newspaper pointed out that the Chuamini deal may be delayed somewhat due to Real Madrid and Barcelona’s involvement in more important deals such as Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski.
Monaco is expected to agree to €60m to sell Chuamini this summer.
