Official: Real Madrid announce the departure of the Brazilian striker from the club

Real Madrid have focused on offloading one of their players in recent weeks, and have now added another name to the departures list after confirming the exit of their Brazilian striker.
Last month, reports claimed that Real Madrid were considering terminating the contract of their Brazilian forward. In reality, however, he has been sold to Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro, with the club issuing an official confirmation.
Real Madrid and Atlético Mineiro have reached an agreement for the transfer of Reinier. The club expressed its gratitude and affection for the years he spent in Madrid, and wished him and his family all the best in this new chapter of his life.
After joining from Flamengo in January 2020, expectations for Reinier were high. He spent his first six months in the Spanish capital with Castilla but failed to make a strong impact. He was then loaned to Borussia Dortmund for two years, where he struggled to maintain form.
Further loan spells at Girona, Frosinone, and Granada followed, but he never managed to find consistent performances. This meant his days at Real Madrid were numbered — and now they have come to an end.
At just 23 years old, he still has plenty of time to revive his career, and returning to his home country could make that easier. A move back to Europe could be possible in the future, but for now, his focus will be on making an impact at his new club.
Reinier’s departure will slightly reduce Real Madrid’s wage bill, although its impact on the first team will be minimal. If Xabi Alonso’s squad is to add a new signing, selling an existing player would be necessary first.
