Manchester United Tempts Barcelona with €70 Million Offer

The Final Stretch of the Summer Transfer Window Approaches – and Manchester United Must Act Fast

As the summer transfer window enters its final phase, Europe’s footballing giants are stepping up their activity to reinforce key positions. Among them, Manchester United stands out as one of the clubs most in need of strengthening.

The Red Devils have endured too many seasons falling short of expectations, and the pressure is mounting. Meanwhile, direct rivals like Liverpool and Arsenal are making significant strides, completing high-profile signings that reflect ambition and strategic planning.

For Manchester United, the urgency to act is clear. The club cannot afford to be left behind as the competition sharpens its squads ahead of the upcoming campaign.

As the summer transfer window nears its final stretch, the big clubs with unfinished business in the market are making their moves. One of the most active is Manchester United, a club in urgent need of reinforcements after several underwhelming seasons. With rivals like Liverpool and Arsenal securing top-level signings, the pressure is mounting at Old Trafford.

According to Sport, the latest name to emerge on United’s shortlist is Fermín López. The young midfielder is struggling for minutes at FC Barcelona due to the club’s wealth of attacking midfield options. The English side is reportedly considering a €70 million offer – a figure that would be hard for Barça to reject.

Fermín López Determined to Stay at Barcelona

Despite the interest, López is not keen on leaving. New manager Hansi Flick considers the squad largely complete, with only Iñaki Peña and Héctor Fort potentially leaving. López remains firmly in his plans and has consistently delivered when called upon.

However, the issue for Barcelona is financial. The club is still working to comply with La Liga’s 1:1 financial fair play rule, and a high-value offer like United’s could be tempting. If such a bid does materialize, the club will study it closely – but they will not force the player to leave under any circumstances.

López, for his part, appears unlikely to accept a move. Despite the potentially lucrative salary United might offer, the El Campillo-born midfielder feels happy and valued at Barça. Even as a rotational player competing with the likes of Dani Olmo, Raphinha, and Rashford (should he arrive), he believes in his role and development under Flick.

Aston Villa Pursue Héctor Fort

Another transfer rumor gaining momentum in recent hours involves Aston Villa’s growing interest in Héctor Fort. With Eric Garcia stepping up as a reliable backup for Jules Koundé at right-back, Fort’s prospects at Barça have diminished. He now finds himself without a clear role, not even as second choice.

Unai Emery’s side is reportedly willing to offer €15 million for the young defender – an amount Barcelona would likely accept.

If the Villa deal falls through, reports from France suggest that Paris FC – the newly promoted side in Ligue 1 – also has Fort on its radar. The ambitious French club is looking for quality signings ahead of its top-flight debut. However, Barcelona is firm: they won’t consider any offer below €15 million. What remains uncertain is whether Fort would agree to join a newcomer in French football.
